Visitors are invited to enjoy this artistic program designed by msbb.

This International Museums Day 2018, “(IDM 2018” #MuseumDay) is organized by UNESCO / ICOM around the theme: "Hyperconnected Museums: New approaches, New publics". In an increasingly connected world, it is impossible to understand the role of the museums without taking into account all the connections they establish. Thus museums are an essential part of their local communities, their cultural landscape and their natural environment.

  • CONNECTION BETWEEN MUSEUMS AND COLLECTIONS. As part of the activities of that day, visitors will be able to enter the permanent exhibitions at the museum between 10:00 and 15:00 and also, to contemplate three artworks loaned to the museum on the occasion of this anniversary, in particular the "Portrait of the Infanta Dª Ana de Austria, Niña ", by Juan Pantoja de la Cruz, from the Abelló Collection; the installation «Juke Blue» by James Turrell, from the Collection D. Aimery Langlois-Meurinne; and "Senza titolo" (2013) by Jannis Kounellis, from the Kewenig Gallery Collection Berlin / Palma.

 • CONNECTION COMMUNITIES / SCHOOLS. At 11:00 and 12:00 students from various schools in Mallorca will explain to visitors, in Spanish, Catalan, German, and English some of the most significant works presented at the exhibition. The idea behind this effort stresses the process of approaching art with the fresh look of children and young people, connecting art with new audiences. • CONNECTION NATURAL ENVIRONMENT / ARTS. At 12.45 noon.  Llorenç Barber, an acclaimed  sound artist,  and the direct heir of the Fluxus and ZAJ tradition in Spain, will produce an open air concert-performance, with his “portable belfry” in the  area of the Megaliths in the Sculpture Park. • LOCAL COMMUNITY / HERITAGE CONNECTION. At 10:30, the bells of the Church of Sant Jaume de Alcùdia will be rung by Maestro Barber for 15 minutes. This action highlights the current international campaign launched with the objective of declaring “Traditional Ringing of Church Bells” as Intangible World Heritage by UNESCO.
